The Mathematical Science program provides a strong background in key analytical techniques that have contemporary applications such as the handling and interpretation of data and the modelling of realworld problems such as global warming.
This program allows you to specialise in mathematics, statistics or a combination of both. You will develop skills that allow you to model and solve problems using mathematical techniques. Minor studies can be completed in science related areas such as computer science and the physical sciences or in areas such as marketing, management, accounting, economics and finance, arts, humanities and social sciences.

Part time-study is only available to local students and is generally completed by day classes as there are limited night classes.
Examples include roles in finance, information security, mining, meteorology, health and genetics. Graduates are also well placed to pursue careers as mathematicians, statisticians, operational research analysts, quantitative/ financial analysts, financial consultants, business analysts, market analysts, investment analysts, risk analysts, sales and production forecasting officers and production systems planning officers.
You may want to enter a career as a secondary school science or mathematics teacher. Completion of the Bachelor of Science degree provides you with guaranteed entry to the one year UWS Master of Teaching (Secondary) program.
